Autograph session of the last sponge-fisherman at the airport
“primeclass” Lounge, the brand of TAV Operation Services, hosted the autograph session held for the book of one of the last sponge-fishermen of Bodrum, "Deco Stop Mehmet".
Located at Milas-Bodrum Airport, primeclass lounge welcomed Mehmet Baş, one of the last representatives of sponge fishing, the origins of which goes 1,700 years back.
Mehmet Baş, aka "Deco stop", chatted with the passengers that visited primeclass lounge all day and signed his book which tells his experiences.
Being one of the main sources of income in Bodrum economy till the end of the last century, sponge fishing is today fading and about to become a part of history.
Published by Naviga Publishing, the book "The Last Sponge Fisherman – Deco Stop Mehmet" also includes a documentary DVD which is about the life of Mehmet Baş.
Mehmet Baş, who started sponge fishing in 1981, received international awards in deep sea diving.
220-square meter lounge designed under the concept of "Bodrum house" by TAV Operation Services and Mudo Concept has a welcoming capacity of 75 people.
